Scorpio 1

wpe372beaa.png

First Introduced in the mid 1980’s, the Scorpio was Helius’s first attempt at making an entry-level product.

Azimuth and cartridge overhang were established by moving the whole arm tube, hence the two grub screws visible near the bearings, and the two holes in the headshell rather than slots.

The vertical bearings incorporated the Helius tetrahedral bearings, however the lateral bearing used conventional ball races.

Although similar to the MKIII Scorpio, this, the MK1 can be differentiated by the bias correction being positioned on the inside platform. A break  from tradition, but perfectly reasonable.
